Frequently Asked Questions

People often come to this work after trying many things that didn’t help, or helped only briefly.
These questions come up again and again in conversations with parents/caregivers, students, individuals, and educators/administrators who are seeking to understand whether this approach is right for them.

Learning to learn means helping the mind-body become more organized and balanced for learning readiness.

Many individuals are highly intelligent and put in the work but struggle to access their full potential. It’s the body that may be inhibiting the learning system to flourish due to stress, relational ruptures, medical conditions, and inner turbulence. Often the nervous system is overwhelmed and learning becomes a biological challenge, no matter how motivated or capable the learner is.

This work first takes a holistic view of the individual and where they are at and then builds foundational ways unique to the individual that make learning possible.

I work with:

– Children and teens with learning differences
– Neurodivergent learners (including ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences)
– Adults struggling with learning, focus, or processing information throughout their lives
– Parents who want to understand and support their child more effectively
– Educators and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of embodied learning readiness and how to apply it

Each person is met where they are. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here.

This work may support learners who experience:

– Difficulty with attention, focus, or organization
– Hidden sensitivities to sound, movement, taste, smell, touch, or light
– Language/speech processing challenges
– Learning delays or uneven skill development
– Anxiety, shutdown, or overwhelm in learning situations
– Feeling “stuck,” discouraged, or misunderstood (wounded learners)

Rather than targeting symptoms in isolation, we look at the whole individual.

Traditional tutoring is mostly cognitive-based and assumes that the individual’s mind is available for a top-down (mind-focused) approach to reading, writing, math, or test preparation. WeCanLearn2Learn offers an alternative approach to understanding the individual’s capacity to learn from bottom-up (body-mind integration)

My work initially focuses on existing emotional, physical, thought patterns that are interfering with learning readiness. Such awareness of the patterns are then used to co-create alternatives that clear space for learning readiness by understanding and befriending our nervous system. Without this foundation, academic interventions often fail or need to be repeated over and over again and may take an additional toll on the individual’s self-esteem.

With such mind-body awareness and integration along with secure attachment with Mina, learning often becomes easier and more sustainable.

This is an educational and neuro-integrative learning modality informed by somatic, attachment, and trauma-responsive developmental principles.

It is not psychotherapy, but it does recognize that learning, emotion, and the body are deeply connected. Sessions are relational, respectful, and paced carefully.

Work typically begins with conversations about the learner’s interests, their strengths, their goals, along with clarifying psycho-educational factors that may be at play affecting their current challenges.

Sessions may include:

– Gentle body-based awareness and mind-body balancing practices
– Movement, rhythm, and sound sensory integration
– Attention, processing, and executive function (organizing) training
– Parents/caregivers and teachers consultation
– Multi-sensory self-awareness journal
– Compassionate self-understanding
– Self-advocacy expressed in constructive language

The pace is attuned to the individual’s state for real change to take hold.

It depends on the individual.

Some people notice small but meaningful shifts early on with greater emotional and physical ease, less stress, and faster recovery from setbacks. Deep changes take time and consistency.

This work respects the nervous system’s need for safety and trust. Nothing is forced.

Yes.

Parents/caregivers are an essential part of a child’s learning environment. Supporting parents often leads to meaningful changes in the family.

Parent sessions focus on understanding what is happening beneath the surface and how to respond in ways that support mind-body ease and learning, rather than escalating conflict and stress.

Absolutely.

Many adults come to this work carrying years of frustration, shame, or self-doubt about their capacity for learning. Many are relieved to find out that nothing was ever “wrong” with them, but all they needed was support for their unmet needs and their stressed-out nervous system. Shame and self-blame then fade away.

This work can help adults develop new capacity, confidence, and understanding at any stage of life.

No.

While many neurodivergent learners benefit greatly from this approach, anyone whose learning is impacted by stress, overwhelm, or disorganization can benefit.

Learning is a human process, not a diagnosis.

Availability may vary depending on the type of work and the needs of the learner. Some work is well-suited to online sessions, while other work is best done in-person.

This is discussed during the initial conversation.

If you sense that learning struggles are not about effort, intelligence, or motivation, but something deeper, this work may be a good fit.

The best next step is to schedule a 15 minute exploratory conversation. There is no obligation. It’s a chance to ask questions, share concerns, and see whether this approach feels resonates with you.

Visit the Learn with Mina page and reach out to schedule an initial conversation.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. Curiosity and openness are enough to begin.

Payment is generally made in advance of sessions, unless other arrangements have been discussed and agreed upon.

This helps keep the work focused and uninterrupted, and allows sessions to be held with care and consistency.

Book a 15-minute exploratory call with me – no obligation, just a clear conversation about your concerns and what real, sustainable change could look like. Let’s take the next small, steady step together where we make space for your concerns, answer questions about how I work, and discuss whether a nervous‑system‑informed approach might help.
